A big rite of passage for toddlers is the day they no longer need diapers and no matter how much we as parents want to keep them little, we don't like having to keep them in diapers any longer then we have to!!! Potty training can be quite the ordeal. How do you know if your child is ready? Is she too young? How long does it take? These questions are basic and there many more that parents grapple with. For a variety of articles , tips and advice from other parents going through the potty training adventure, visit Earth's Best Potty Training Tips and BabyCenter's Potty Training Basics. Through my own experiences with potty training here are few tips I can offer:
- Don't compare - every child is unique. Your little one is different from your neighbor's or sister's little one. Even their own siblings!
- Don't get discouraged! Every child potty trains on their timetable. There may well be setbacks.
- Before actually beginning, talk it up with your little one. Get a child's book about potty training, have them shop for their little potty with you and have them start wearing training pants to get comfortable beforehand. It's also a great way to help gauge if they're ready or not.
- Be patient and plan for mistakes. Take heart that potty training will be successful, sooner or later:)

With both of my kids- when they reached 22 months- i spoke with them and we threw the diapers away- went straight to underware and panites- it took them a week to get the hang of it- but it worked like a charm...of course that whole week- they had to go every 5 minutes but in the end they did great
