Through Anna at the Hachette Book Group I was able to review Katrina Kenison's new book The Gift of an Ordinary Life; A Mother's Memoir . From the very beginning I developed a love/hate relationship with this book. I fought with my own feelings and inner turmoil as a mom while the author made her own realizations of her role as a mother. She grappled with how she was handling her own individuality and how her role as mom was changing as her sons went through puberty and high school. There are often fine lines between the roles of mom, wife, daughter, friend and being an individual. Katrina Kenison captures these roles beautifully and offers much inspiration. I would recommend this book to my best friend! This book would also make a great reading for book clubs.

I learned a bedtime schedule and daily routines are very nice. I also have learned that if the routine doesn't always go perfectly no big deal. Kids like order, but it is okay to change things up too.
